Cherry BBQ Sauce

Cherry BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

3Cups Seal the Seasons NY Tart Cherries 

3 Tbsp olive oil 

2Cloves garlic, minced  

1Onion, diced  

1 1/2Cups ketchup  

2/3Cup brown sugar  

1/4Cup apple cider vinegar  

1 Shot (2 oz) Honey Whiskey (optional) 

3Tbsp. water  

2Tbsp. ground mustard  

1Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce  

1/4Tsp. cayenne pepper  

Salt and pepper to taste  


Instructions

STEP 1: Thaw and drain Seal the Seasons frozen cherries 

STEP 2: Heat olive oil in sauce pan and saute onion and garlic over medium heat until soft and fragrant. 

STEP 3: Add the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, whiskey, water, ground mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepperStir and bring mixture to a simmer. 

STEP 4: Add the cherries and salt and pepper to taste. Continue to cook over low heat for 20 minutes, or until sauce thickens 

STEP 5: Once thickened, remove sauce from heat and puree in food processor until smooth.  

STEP 6: Let cool and enjoy!
